Germany is the country that has the highest international student potential in Europe, especially for its wide range of undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs offered to international students. At the same time, it is among the countries that allow international students to work while getting academic education. In this way, you also have the opportunity to contribute to your budget, which is a significant criterion for studying abroad. You can find the types of German student visas you need for having education in Germany and the necessary documents in our article.
GERMANY STUDENT VISA
Compared to other visa types, the German student visa shows some differences. The connecting point for a German visa is the duration of residence in Germany. It can be obtained as a Schengen visa for short-term: staying less than 90 days or as a national visa for long-term: staying more than 90 days.
If you are going to travel to Germany for education, the type of visa you need to apply for is the National Visa (D type). There are some visa types that you need to show for education during your application.
The type of student visa differs according to the education you want to take in Germany. The German Consulate issues student visas in three different categories:
- Education Visa (Studienvisum): If you have received an acceptance letter from any university in Germany, you must apply for this visa type.
- Language Course Visa (Sprachkursvisum): If you are going to participate in education programs between 3 months and 1 year or if you are going to study German for a short time, you must apply for this type of visa.
- Student Candidate Visa (Studienbewerbervisum): If you want to study in Germany but have not yet decided on an education program and therefore have not received an acceptance letter from any university, you must make an application for this type of Germany student visa.
GERMANY EDUCATION VISA
Education visa, one of the student visa types, is the type of student visa that should be applied by international students who have completed their preparatory education in Germany or who want to study at a German university. The significant criterion when applying for this visa is that you have been accepted at the institution where you are going to be educated. After getting a 3 or 6-month entry visa, you can get a 1 or 2-year residence permit when you go to Germany.
GERMANY LANGUAGE COURSE VISA
If you are going to Germany only to learn a language, it is the type of Germany student visa you need to apply for. This type of visa is given for a maximum period of 9 months. At the same time, there is no possibility of extension except in exceptional cases according to the law. If you get direct admission from a university in your city, you can extend the duration of the language course visa.
